Additional
Information:
This is a
very rare and fine copy of a miniature book, issued during the Civil
War, that contains inspirational or religious messages primarily
written
for children.
The author,
Aunt Laura, which is most like a pseudonym of Frances Elizabeth Barrow,
wrote numerous miniature books that were published by the Breed, Butler
Company. She also used the pseudonym of Aunt Fanny.
This little
book actually
has three parts to it. The first 14 pages are a religious based story
of faith. Pages 15 through 59 tell a story about "faith" entitled, The Ant, Sheep and Grasshopper.
The
Ant is productive and works hard. The Sheep are very passive and
faithful to their owner. The Grasshopper is thoughtless and playful.
The last section of this little book is entitled The Lambs of Jesus.
This
miniature book is in
such fine condition we doubt it has been read more than once or twice.
It will make a fine addition to your collection of Civil War Miniature
Books and if read has many lessons to be learned.
