Additional Information:
Swap
cards are, simply put, individual playing cards. Collecting these
cards became a favorite past-time during the 1930s through the 1950s
and then, in this country anyway, seemed to taper off. Today collecting
swap cards is extremely popular in Australia.
The collecting of swap cards can be equated to collecting stamps,
coins, baseball cards or postcard cards. There were many types and
designs from the very old (pre-1900) wide poker cards to the early
variations that were round and odd shaped. Later came the smaller
cards, supposedly for the ladies, called bridge cards. They were not as
wide so they were easier to hold in a woman's hand.
Most people collected by groups such as animals and more specifically,
dogs, cats, horses, etc., while others collected Art Deco or Art
Nouveau designs or patriotic or advertising themes or even
transportation methods such as trains, planes and automobiles. Some
people collected just the Aces, or Jokers or blank backs while others
took to a favorite suit, hearts, diamonds, clubs or spades or even a
favorite number.
Whatever you favorite; here is a chance to add to your collection or
start a new one. You will love these old cards.
Here we have a collection of five (5) cards featuring the world's
favorite soft drink; Coca-Cola. The cards represented are as follows:
- Matching
Pair of Patriotic Women ~ These cards were made in 1943
- Single
Card front
Slogan "Drink Coca-Cola in Bottles" introduced in 1910 and the back
slogan of "The Pause that Refreshes" was introduced in 1929.
The
card was actually produced in 1939.
- The
last two cards have identical fronts and were also issued during World
War II in 1943.
As stated
these cards date from 1939 and 1943 and are in excellent condition. As
you can see from the
pictures there are two Extra Jokers and three addition cards for a
total of five
cards.
These classic pictures are always wonderful to look at!
