From our research we found out that there were a number of different
sets of playing cards issued to represent the 1939 New York World's
Fair. From what we can determine this is one of the earliest produced.
This souvenir deck of cards appear to be unused and in excellent
condition. There are no rips, tears, writing or damaged cards. There
are no jokers however all 52 cards are present. These cards would be
ideal as a set or to use as swap cards. The box is in excellent
condition with only minor wear.
The 1939 World's Fair was held in April of 1939. The Theme Center
consisted of two all-white, landmark monumental buildings named the
Trylon which was over 700 feet tall and the Perisphere. You would enter
it via a moving stairway and exit via a curved walkway named the
Helicline. Inside the Perisphere was a model city of tomorrow that
visitors viewed from a moving walkway high above the floor level. The
Theme Center was designed by architect Wallace Harrison and his
associate Max Abramovitz.
