Additional Information:
This is such a unique celluloid game counter or score keeper, probably
for the game of bridge. It is two pieces of celluloid that have a
marble effect and are attached together. In between are three wheels
that turn and show the numbers 0 through 9 in the openings and the four
suits of cards, Spades, Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts. The first dial
keeps track of points earned. The second keeps track what suit is
Trumps. And the last dial keeps track of the number of games played.
This piece measures approximately 4 3/4" long by 1 1/2" tall by 1/4"
thick and is in very good working condition. There is dark spot on the
back that appears as though it may have darkened from heat, possibly
the sun?
All dials turn easily and there are no chips, cracks or breaks. All of
the numbers and symbols are clearly legible.
We would have to say this is the most unique and prettiest one of these
game counters or score keepers we have ever seen. We do not know the
precise age of this piece but would guess it is from the early 1900s
since the game of Bridge came into existence about that time. It is
unmarked as to a manufacturer so we do not know who made it.
This will make a nice addition to your collection, will display well or
make a wonderful gift.
