Vintage Large Cameo Pendant, Brooch or Pin

This piece along with many others that can be found on our Jewelry pages are from an estate in the Boston area. They were owned by an elderly woman that passed away in 1977.

This is a large vintage cameo. She has such a beautiful face, that of a Victorian Lady. The center stone is probably made of early resin. It reminds me of tortoise shell with its rich vivid colors and almost appears to be glass. When held up to a light you can actually see through the lighter areas.

She is a magnificent lady cameo with an ornate frame that can be hung as a pendant or worn as a pin or brooch. The frame appears to be a vermeil or gold wash.

Resin and Bakelite jewelry are enjoying quite a resurgence in popularity today and many of the famous designers are now using them in their new designs.

The vintage era costume jewelry is back in vogue and now is an opportune time to purchase a few pieces at very reasonable prices.
